What is the difference between die cut and kiss cut stickers?
- Die cut and kiss cut stickers are mostly similar, except for how the sticker's backing is done. A die cut sticker differs from a kiss cut by having its backing paper, or the background paper completely laser cut along the shape of the design so you can see clearly your custom sticker design. While kiss cut stickers, the backing paper is retained leaving a slightly visible backing for better peeling and transferring.
- Both methods, die cut and kiss cut, are printed digitally on white polypropylene, which sticks to just about any surface. And both can also handle both custom shape stickers and are printed with full-color matching. When you print the same design for both methods, once the backing is peeled, the outcome would look the same.
- So what is the real difference between them? Here we briefly explained some critical differences on each method.
- Die Cut Stickers has the backing cut perfectly aligned with the shape and size of the sticker itself. Die Cut Stickers are usually ideal to use for stickers with solid shapes like Square, Rectangle, Round, and Oval stickers. Die Cut Stickers are also for those looking for stickers sheets that would stand out even before applying it. Aesthetically, it looks better because of the presentation and is also most often used for marketing or promotional purposes because of its unique shape.
- Kiss Cut Stickers, on the other hand, are stickers that have a visible backing and it's cut frames the shape of the sticker. This type of cut is ideally used for stickers with delicate designs as the backing serves as a protection to avoid damages, especially along the edges. Kiss Cut Stickers also tend to be much easier to peel, so they're usually used if you need to quickly peel and apply lots of stickers. Kiss Cut stickers are also preferred when printing multiple designs in one sheet.
- Both stickers can handle different designs and are digitally printed, technically both methods would look the same when applied, but it will depend on your preference on what you think would be best and would be more efficient for the purpose of where you will be using the stickers for. Although there is a definite difference between die cut stickers and kiss cut stickers, it is easy to see that both styles can be beneficial in your marketing plan.
- Before choosing your method, keep in mind that the purpose of the design is the most essential aspect especially if you are using it for promotional means.
